I had the pleasure of meeting Berdj Abadjian when I worked in Cleveland, Ohio and our showroom sold carpets from “The Abadjian Collection”. Mr. Abadjian tirelessly worked to improve conditions for those in his native land. I did not know him all that well, yet I feel his spirit and commitment toward producing carpets in his native Romanian should be lauded. To often the preservation of native craft is passed over for (slightly) less expensive, more commercialized production demanded by market forces. He will be missed.
